| Our little pea is getting bigger and bigger everyday. Yesterday was the first time that I have given her cheerios. She has been a grabber and very firm gripper from the beginning so I knew she could handle it, but it was funny to watch her first reaction. She didn't quite know what to do with it.
Christmas 2008 She loves to grab at the tree Anyways, we are busy as ever this holiday season. We are finally starting to feel better too, so that helps with the busyness. Yesterday Leah and I went to our monthly playdate with all the May/June babies. It's always a lot of fun to see how much everyone is changing and to go through the process together. Miss Kendra is a little ahead of everyone else, but she's the trainer and motivator to get everyone moving. She's already up and crawling so she's a lot of fun to watch. I asked her and Meredith to teach Leah how to roll over since they are pros and Leah just doesn't think it's important to roll over.
Meredith, Me, Kendra, Jake, and Branson My best friend Meredith! All the babies and the mommy's Tonight is our annually White Elephant Christmas Party for our Sunday School Class and it will hopefully be a lot of fun. There's always a good gift that gets passed around so we look forward to that. We don't know yet what we are going to bring, but I'm sure we can spare something:) (Like my coffeemaker that doesn't want to work and it's only 2 years old!!!!! I wanted some coffee today and it wouldn't brew:( Stinky little thing!)
We are much into the Christmas spirit and it's approaching quickly so we better get our presents wrapped and then we will be set. Hope you had a great week. Enjoy your weekend.
She loves to grab her toes! | | |
| Happy Belated Thanksgiving! I hope that everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving and had a wonderful time with friends and family. We certainly enjoyed our Thanksgiving weekend. We had 3 very yummie Thanksgiving meals and saw lots of family. Leah definitely had a lot of fun with all of her cousins, aunts, uncles, great aunts, grandmas, grandpas, and great grandmas. We also got our family picture taken for our Christmas cards:)

Our home has kind of become the Smits Memorial Hospital. It seems that everyone is sick except for nurse Leyny. I started with lots of drainage and not being able to breathe out of my nose. Then Leah started acting funny and wouldn't eat. Well, in a few days she got her appetite back, but her nose started to run and she began to cough. Then Aaron came home from work one day and was just draining and congested as could be. We all felt well enough to go to all the family Thanksgivings, but still took it easy. Aaron and I have been feeling better, still draining and such, but not as bad. Leah on the other hand is still kind of the same and a little worse. On Monday I gave her some cereal for breakfast and she seemed her normal self. Well after her morning nap, I found her covered in throw up. I gave her a bath to clean her up and she ended up throwing up about 4 more times after that. I felt SO BAD!!!! She was very pale in the face and when I would hold her she would just lay on my shoulder like she was tired. She was definitely not herself. I called the dr. and they just said to give her stomach a chance to settle and then give some pedialyte until she could keep things down and if she didn't to bring her in. Well, she ended up being fine after her afternoon nap. She started to perk up and smile. So I dunno if it was a 24 hour thingy or not, but she's a happy camper except her runny nose! Blasted colds!!!! Leyny has been taking very good care of us though! Lots of love and hugs to go around:)
I can't believe it's December already! Our little girl is going to be 6 months old in a few weeks:) Christmas is just around the corner, our anniversary at the end of the month, and then 2009 begins!! The months just fly by so quickly!! We've got our Christmas tree and decorations up and are ready to conquer this fun and beautiful season!
We've had our first snow already and Leyny has gotten to eat quite a bit of it. Leah just loved to look at it. I don't think she quite new what it was but was intrigued. Leah has also discovered her feet. I've always tried to play with her feet and try to stick them in her mouth, but she never really was interested until a few days ago. Now she's grabbing them all of the time, trying to get them in her hands and mouth. She tries to use her legs to turn herself over. Hopefully this will help her master her rolling over from her back to her tummy:) She is an all smiles girl! We couldn't get her to stop smiling all Thanksgiving weekend. You would just look at her and she would smile. She is such a blessing and the best baby ever!!!
Well here are some cute pictures of our little peanut!

Happy Holidays and have a great rest of the week!

| Busyness!!!
Things have been soo crazy around here lately that I haven't had time to do much. Last weekend was Halloween, so we took Leah to my parents to show them her costume. Then Saturday I had a bridal shower for my roommate from college. Aaron got to babysit all day and then meet up with me at church to work in the nursery. Then this past week, I had a play date set up with Meredith and Kate, voted on Tuesday, cleaned on Wednesday, met up with some old friends on Friday, and redecorated on Thursday and Saturday.
All week Aaron and I had been discussing how to rearrange our living room to make it look bigger and we couldn't pin down on any certain layout. Either the cords wouldn't reach or the speakers would have to move. So when Kate came over on Thursday I mentioned it to her and she was all about trying to rearrange with me. So while Meredith and Leah were napping, we came up with a really great layout and it looked really nice. Oh the fun things you do when your children nap:) Aaron was pretty surprised when he got home from work, but really liked it! We had a really fun time with Kate and Meredith and were so glad that they got to come over. After they left, Aaron and I got to talking about the kitchen and how we didn't like the paint color. I told him that I would get paint and paint on Friday and we remembered that we still had paint leftover from Leah's room that would look good in the kitchen, so I said, I'll start tonight once she's in bed:) So I did, we repainted the kitchen on spur of the moment and it looks so much better than it did before!! So we finished up painting that on Saturday and got everything put back into it's spot in the kitchen.

Leah is still much of a growing bean! She still hasn't rolled over yet from her back to stomach, but she is sooo close. I think I may have gotten her to laugh for the first time, but I can't get her to do it again. So that's my goal this week is to work on her laugh. Last Wednesday I started her on solid foods other than oatmeal. So far she has tried peas and green beans and loved them both. Tomorrow starts sweet potatoes so we'll see how those go. She loves her jumper playgym and loves to put things in her mouth. We still don't see any teeth, but I have a feeling that they are coming soon.

Well, the busyness doesn't stop for our family anytime soon, especially with the holidays coming up. Hope you are doing well. Have a great week!
